Scout
Brand threat intelligence scanner to detect impersonation attacks.
About Scout
Scout is a brand threat intelligence scanner that helps you discover potential impersonation attacks targeting your brand. It generates and checks variations of your brand name to find registered threats like typosquatting, homoglyph attacks, and phishing campaigns.
This feature is available exclusively for paid users in your Scout Dashboard.
This tool uses search algorithms and pattern matching to identify potential threats. Results may include false positives and should be analyzed individually.
How It Works
- Enter your brand name - Provide the brand or keyword you want to protect
- Select search type - Choose the data type to scan (currently domains)
- Configure plugins - Enable/disable detection methods
- Review results - Analyze discovered threats with risk levels and fraud indicators
Search Plugins
Scout uses multiple detection techniques that can be enabled or disabled:
| Plugin | Description |
|---|---|
| Prefix/Suffix | Detects patterns like secure-brand, brand-login, my-brand |
| Keywords | Finds fraud keywords like brand-tracking, envio-brand |
| Typosquatting | Character substitution & adjacent key mistakes |
| Homoglyph | Visually similar characters (e.g., 1onos instead of ionos) |
| Char Manipulation | Double/missing characters, hyphens |
| Misspellings | Common spelling mistakes |
| Fake TLD | Patterns like brand.com4es.xyz |
| Follow Redirects | Filters out domains redirecting to your legitimate brand |
| Resolve IP | Shows IP address for each discovered threat |
Understanding Results
Each result includes:
- Target - The discovered threat (domain, etc.)
- Pattern - The detection method that found it
- Risk Level -
low, medium, high, orcritical - Fraud Flag - Whether it matches known fraud patterns
- IP Address - Server IP (if Resolve IP is enabled)
Risk Levels
| Level | Description |
|---|---|
low | Potentially suspicious, requires manual review |
medium | Likely impersonation attempt |
high | Strong indicators of malicious intent |
critical | Confirmed fraud patterns detected |
Exporting Results
You can export discovered threats in multiple formats:
- TXT - Simple text list of targets
- JSON - Full data with all details
- CSV - Spreadsheet-compatible format
Pricing
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Base search cost | 0.25 credits |
| Per registered threat found | 0.01 credits |
| Per plugin enabled (per threat) | 0.02 credits |
Example: A search with 5 plugins enabled that finds 20 registered threats:
0.25 + (20 x 0.01) + (20 x 5 x 0.02) = 0.25 + 0.20 + 2.00 = 2.45 credits
FAQs
What data types does Scout support?
Currently, Scout supports domain scanning. Additional data types are planned for future releases.
How accurate is the fraud detection?
Scout uses pattern matching and heuristics to identify potential threats. While it has high accuracy for common fraud patterns, results should be reviewed manually as false positives may occur.
Can I automate Scout searches?
Scout is currently a dashboard-only feature. API access for automated brand monitoring is planned for future releases.
What happens to discovered threats?
Scout only identifies and reports potential threats. Taking action (reporting, takedowns, etc.) is your responsibility. We recommend using services like domain registrar abuse reports or specialized takedown services.
